Merry Christmas! and some news…

With a whirlwind fall full of fabulous weddings… the holidays snuck up on me and I haven’t had a chance to post a December blog until now!! Better late than never I suppose. I wanted to thank ALL of my wonderful 2011 brides you were a absolute joy to work with. I of course have to give a shout out to the awesome vendors who I worked with as well. Thank you for your hard work!! I am also looking forward to working with my 2012 brides too and can’t wait to get started on your weddings.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I am so thankful for the success that “I Do” Flowers has had this year and I look forward to 2012 being a successful and busy year. That being said… this next year is going to be an interesting one. I don’t often post many personal things as I like to keep this blog pretty business-like… but I am happy to announce that we will be welcoming a new little baby boy into our lives in February!! It will be challenging but fun nonetheless. I am still here to answer your questions, and keep things “business as usual”, but I am not booking any weddings from January thorough mid-April. However come May… I will hit the ground running… so don’t hesitate to book me for next year.

I hope you all enjoy this holiday season and spend some much needed time with your friends and family. Thank you AGAIN for supporting “I Do” Flowers and I will see you in the New Year!

Tall centerpieces add drama and a touch of extravagance to any wedding reception. In taller reception venues they also help to the space to seem less cavernous. Below are a variety of tall centerpiece styles that can be incorporated into reception decor. Elements such as candles, flowers, branches and hanging crystals can all be incorporated into taller centerpiece styles.

Happy Halloween! Wait…. it’s not October anymore? You’re right! November is here and we are starting swift run to the holidays! A few weekends ago I did some spooky flowers for a Halloween party. I had a great time getting creative and loved how they turned out.

I just couldn’t resist including this into my post…. But…. Check out our awesome Halloween costumes!! Yup… we were Care Bears this year. I went as Best Friend Bear and Andy as Grumpy Bear!

The lights are dimmed and warm golden candlelight is reflected around the room. Suddenly everything feels to romantic and fairytale like… Candles are such a simple way to add ambiance to a reception venue. They can be used to add a touch of warmth to a floral centerpiece or can be a centerpiece all on their own. Here is a sampling of some ways I’ve used candles to light up a table.

I absolutely love fall… it’s my favorite season of the year!! So come September I start to get excited about my line-up of fall weddings. There is just something about combining the warm colors of red, orange, yellow and brown that inspire me. Check out these lovely fall bouquets, they make me “fall” in love with the season all over again!

A Day In The Life Of….. A Florist

The big day has finally arrived, it’s your wedding day…. all the planning and details come down to this moment. You’re florist has just handed you the bouquet that you will carry down the aisle. All the flowers a meticulously placed and the ribbon is delicately wrapped around the stems. But have you ever thought about how the beautiful floral creations come together for your big day? I thought it would be fun to walk through the process of how everything comes together from the moment the flowers are unpacked to when they are placed in your hands.

Three days before your wedding the flowers are delivered, unpacked, and placed into buckets of water in the cooler. Flowers need at least a day to hydrate and toughen up for their big debut.

The following day is flower creation day! The bouquets, centerpieces, corsages, etc. are put together. The workshop floor tends to get pretty messy after a long night of working.

After many hours of hard work, the bouquets are completed, the ribbon is wrapped, and these beauties are ready to hang out in the cooler until the big day.

The morning of the wedding the flowers are carefully packed into boxes and loaded into the car ready for thier final destination.

After a quick car ride, the flowers arrive at the hotel ready to be delivered to the bride and then it’s off to the ceremony and reception site to finish the set-up and decorating.

At the reception and ceremony site the flowers are placed on the tables and all the final decorating details are set. The only thing that is left is for the bride to see how everything has come together for her big day and to enjoy every minute of it!
